I am so thankful to the amazing Youtube channels like Sofar Sounds, NPR Music, and Uforia Music. Because of channels like these I get exposure to fantastic artist like Yebba, an American Singer-Songwriter. This performance is from a 2016 SoFar NYC performance, and is just captivating. Yebba tells her story of heartbreak in a way that makes my heart break right along with her.
She starts the song with these lyrics,
I heard you coming at a quarter to three
You closed the door and laid down next to me
But then I heard you say her name in your sleep
Your dirty secret's too far gone to keep
Which did remind me of the 1983 song by The Romantics, "Talking in your sleep", which is an upbeat song about someone spilling their secrets while they sleep. But what they overheard was that the person wants, needs, loves them. Yeah, Yebba did not get such a romantic confession.
This song is good for allowing yourself to feel the pain of this type of heartbreak.
