Scrapper Blackwell - Nobody Knows You When You're Down And Out

Nothing, nothing, nothing is like the blues. What kind of magic exists in this sound? Music that will get you to make that ugly face because it is just so fucking good. Other songs can do this to us, but the blues really gets the ugly face going. This 1962 recording of the song by Scrapper Blackwell is a cover of the song originally written in 1923. It was such a surprise to me that this really was recorded in the 60's, because it sounds like it would have been recorded much, much earlier. Regardless, here I am 2022 enjoying this song and still resonating with the message. Good songs with good stories, and a good groove will never get old.

This song is good for hot days sitting in a rocking chair on a porch while sipping on a mint julep and thinking about life.

Enjoy!
