You really cannot keep Cypress Hill down. They have been at the rap game for 30 years or so and have been putting out grooves about the marijuana leaf since the beginning.
On top of that they have their own marijuana product, Insane Cannabis. They have a media platform, Breal.tv. They are currently on tour with SlipKnot. They just released a documentary about their work with Showtime. And all this from a little known L.A. suburb called South Gate, California.
When you hear tracks from other L.A. rappers every city near South Gate is called out but never South Gate itself. To be fair South Gate is not a "gangster" place worth calling out in comparison with Watts, Compton, and even Long Beach. This probably has a lot to do with the white supremacy and redlining that kept South Gate whiter longer than other areas. Now it is majority hispanic and proud that Cypress Hill will sometimes call it out in their music.
Of note, Sen Dog was hospitalized recently. At the time of this post being created, it is not know if he is ok. The other Cypress Hill members have still gone on with the tour which makes me think that things are not that bad and that he'll get back to touring soon. I sure hope so.
This song is good for burning it up while rolling down the street in your lowrider.
Enjoy!
